The popularity of apps continues to explode on the horizon of technology. Almost anything you can imagine and then some you can find through an app. A new app for children is being introduced , February 21, 2013. I was privileged to preview it and must say it is one of the cutest and most creative apps I have seen for children.
There are a lot of apps out for children and a lot of them fall in the category of storybook apps. This is one is not but falls in the category of a creative activity for children. It is a puppet workshop for children just as the name states. The great advantage is that you do not have to exhaust yourself looking for materials as you usually would. All the materials you can possibly think of are provided for you in a drag and drop screen. Starting with a glove or mitten with a background, you then add the facial features by adding buttons, yarn and other objects. The ability to change the background to another scene is also an option. Whimsical music joyfully accompanies you as you create or you can select to turn it off. The creative characters can be saved on the app or to your photo library. I am hoping with a future update that a feature can be added to the app to animate the puppet or in some way a child can play with puppet he has created as he would have the opportunity to by making one the traditional way. This would further encourage a child’s imagination and creativity.
All in all this is a very cute app for kids and does encourage their creativity.
I give it a four star rating.
